These Terms and Conditions govern your enrolment and participation in training courses offered by Immediate Response First Aid ("IRFA," "we," "us," or "our"). By enrolling in our courses, you agree to be bound by these terms.

1. Enrolment

1.1 Eligibility

To enrol in our courses, you must:

  • Be at least 14 years of age (parental consent required for under 18)
  • Have sufficient English language skills to understand course materials and assessments
  • Be physically capable of performing course requirements (e.g., CPR on floor)
  • Provide accurate and complete enrolment information
  • Have a valid Unique Student Identifier (USI) for nationally recognised training

1.2 Enrolment Process

Enrolment is complete when:

  • You have completed the online enrolment form or booking
  • Full payment has been received (unless alternative arrangements have been made)
  • You have received a booking confirmation email from us

We reserve the right to refuse enrolment at our discretion.

1.3 Pre-Course Requirements

Before attending your course, you must:

  • Complete any required pre-course learning materials
  • Read the Student Handbook
  • Provide your USI (or apply for one)
  • Declare any medical conditions that may affect training
  • Bring appropriate identification (government-issued photo ID)

2. Payment Terms

2.1 Course Fees

All prices are listed in Australian Dollars (AUD) and include GST unless otherwise stated. Course fees are due at the time of booking unless:

  • You have a payment plan arrangement with us
  • Your employer is invoiced directly (corporate bookings)
  • You are using government funding (where applicable)

2.2 Payment Methods

We accept the following payment methods:

  • Credit card (Visa, Mastercard, American Express)
  • Debit card
  • Direct bank transfer (with prior arrangement)
  • Corporate invoicing (approved accounts only)

2.3 Failed Payments

If payment fails or is declined:

  • Your enrolment may be cancelled
  • You may be denied entry to the course
  • Late payment fees may apply
  • Collection agencies may be engaged for unpaid invoices

2.4 Price Changes

We reserve the right to change course prices at any time. However, price changes will not affect bookings already confirmed and paid.

3. Attendance and Participation

3.1 Attendance Requirements

To receive certification, you must:

  • Attend 100% of the course (no partial attendance accepted)
  • Arrive on time (late arrivals may be refused entry)
  • Participate actively in all practical activities
  • Complete all required assessments

⚠️ Important: No Partial Attendance

First aid courses require full attendance. If you miss any part of the course, you cannot receive certification and will need to re-enrol in a future course. No refunds are provided for partial attendance.

3.2 What to Bring

Students must bring:

  • Government-issued photo ID
  • USI number (or evidence of application)
  • Completed pre-course materials (if applicable)
  • Appropriate clothing for physical activity
  • Water bottle and any personal medications

3.3 Physical Requirements

First aid courses involve physical activities including:

  • Kneeling and performing CPR on the floor
  • Using defibrillators and first aid equipment
  • Practicing bandaging and immobilization techniques
  • Participating in scenario-based training

If you have any physical limitations, please inform us before enrolling.

4. Assessments and Certification

4.1 Assessment Requirements

To achieve competency and receive your certificate, you must:

  • Demonstrate all required practical skills to the trainer's satisfaction
  • Complete written assessments (where applicable) with minimum 80% pass mark
  • Show understanding of theoretical knowledge
  • Meet the performance criteria outlined in the training package

4.2 Re-Assessment

If you do not achieve competency on the first attempt:

  • We may offer immediate re-assessment at the trainer's discretion
  • Additional re-assessment may incur fees ($50-$100)
  • You may need to re-enrol in a future course if competency cannot be achieved

4.3 Certificate Issuance

Upon successful completion:

  • Certificates are issued on the same day (for most courses)
  • Digital certificates are emailed within 24-48 hours
  • Certificates are valid for the period specified on the certificate (typically 1-3 years)
  • Lost certificates can be replaced for a fee ($25)

4.4 Certificate Validity

Please note:

  • HLTAID009 (CPR): Valid for 12 months
  • HLTAID011 (Provide First Aid): Valid for 3 years (CPR component requires annual renewal)
  • HLTAID012 (Provide First Aid in Education): Valid for 3 years (CPR component requires annual renewal)
  • Other courses: As specified in the training package

5. Cancellations and Rescheduling

5.1 Cancellation by Student

If you need to cancel your booking:

  • More than 7 days before course: Full refund or transfer to another date
  • 3-7 days before course: Transfer to another date (transfer fee may apply)
  • Less than 3 days before course: No refund; transfer subject to availability and $50 fee
  • No-show: No refund or transfer available

5.2 Rescheduling

To reschedule your booking:

  • Contact us at least 3 days before your scheduled course
  • Transfer fees may apply for late rescheduling
  • Transfers are subject to availability
  • You may only reschedule once without penalty

5.3 Cancellation by IRFA

We reserve the right to cancel courses due to:

  • Insufficient enrolments (minimum 4 students required)
  • Trainer illness or unavailability
  • Venue issues
  • Extreme weather or emergencies

If we cancel your course:

  • You will receive a full refund OR
  • You can transfer to another course date at no additional cost
  • We will notify you as soon as possible (usually 24-48 hours before)

6. Code of Conduct

6.1 Expected Behavior

All students must:

  • Treat trainers and other students with respect
  • Follow trainer instructions and safety guidelines
  • Not disrupt the learning environment
  • Turn off or silence mobile phones during training
  • Refrain from using alcohol or drugs before or during training
  • Dress appropriately for practical activities

6.2 Prohibited Conduct

The following behaviors are strictly prohibited:

  • Harassment, bullying, or discrimination of any kind
  • Violence or threatening behavior
  • Being under the influence of alcohol or drugs
  • Theft or damage to property
  • Recording or photographing without permission
  • Cheating or plagiarism in assessments

6.3 Consequences

Students who violate our code of conduct may be:

  • Given a warning
  • Asked to leave the course (no refund)
  • Banned from future courses
  • Reported to relevant authorities (if applicable)

7. Health and Safety

7.1 Student Responsibilities

You are responsible for:

  • Disclosing any medical conditions that may affect your participation
  • Following all safety instructions provided by trainers
  • Using equipment properly and safely
  • Reporting any hazards or incidents immediately
  • Ensuring you are physically fit to participate

7.2 Medical Conditions

If you have any of the following, please inform us before enrolling:

  • Heart conditions or recent heart surgery
  • Back, knee, or shoulder injuries
  • Pregnancy
  • Recent surgery
  • Any condition that may prevent you from performing CPR or physical activities

7.3 Insurance

While we maintain public liability insurance, students are encouraged to have their own personal accident insurance. We are not liable for injuries sustained during training activities performed according to instructions.

8. Intellectual Property

All course materials, including:

  • Training manuals and handouts
  • Presentations and videos
  • Assessments and quizzes
  • Online learning resources

Are protected by copyright and remain the intellectual property of IRFA or our licensors. You may not:

  • Reproduce or distribute course materials
  • Share materials with third parties
  • Use materials for commercial purposes
  • Modify or create derivative works

9. Liability and Disclaimer

9.1 Limitation of Liability

To the extent permitted by law, IRFA is not liable for:

  • Personal injury or property damage (except where caused by our negligence)
  • Indirect or consequential losses
  • Loss of income or opportunity
  • Failure to achieve competency
  • Actions taken based on training provided

9.2 Disclaimer

While we strive to provide high-quality training:

  • Course information is current at the time of publication but may change
  • Trainers' opinions do not necessarily reflect IRFA policy
  • We do not guarantee employment outcomes
  • We are not responsible for third-party websites or resources

9.3 Indemnity

You agree to indemnify IRFA against any claims, damages, or losses arising from:

  • Your breach of these Terms and Conditions
  • Your violation of any laws or regulations
  • Your negligent or willful misconduct

10. Complaints and Appeals

10.1 Making a Complaint

If you are dissatisfied with any aspect of our service:

  1. Contact us immediately via phone, email, or in person
  2. We will acknowledge your complaint within 2 business days
  3. We will investigate and respond within 10 business days
  4. If unresolved, you may escalate to our Complaints Manager

10.2 Assessment Appeals

If you disagree with an assessment outcome:

  1. Discuss with your trainer immediately
  2. Submit a formal appeal in writing within 7 days
  3. Your assessment will be reviewed by an independent assessor
  4. You will receive a written response within 14 days

10.3 External Review

If you are not satisfied with our resolution:

  • ASQA (Australian Skills Quality Authority): Contact ASQA for RTO-related complaints
  • Fair Trading: Contact your state's Fair Trading office for consumer complaints
  • Training Ombudsman: For training-related disputes

11. Privacy and Data Protection

We collect, use, and protect your personal information in accordance with:

  • Privacy Act 1988 (Cth)
  • Australian Privacy Principles
  • Standards for RTOs 2015

12. General Provisions

12.1 Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of Queensland courts.

12.2 Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.

12.3 Amendments

We reserve the right to update these Terms and Conditions at any time. Changes will be effective immediately upon posting on our website. Continued use of our services constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

12.4 Entire Agreement

These Terms and Conditions, together with our Privacy Policy and Refund Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and IRFA regarding your enrolment and training.

Acceptance of Terms

By enrolling in our courses, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, please do not enrol in our courses.
