Who Should Attend

Who Is HLTAID012 Required For?

Under the Education and Care Services National Regulations, services must have staff with ACECQA-approved first aid, anaphylaxis and asthma training in attendance at all times.

Early Childhood Educators

Long day care, kindergarten and preschool educators — HLTAID012 is the ACECQA-approved qualification.

OSHC & Vacation Care Staff

Outside school hours care services must meet the same National Law first aid requirements.

Under the Education and Care Services National Regulations, approved services must ensure staff with ACECQA-approved first aid, anaphylaxis and emergency asthma training are in attendance at all times children are being educated and cared for. HLTAID012 is the qualification that satisfies all three requirements in one course.

HLTAID011 is general workplace first aid. HLTAID012 includes everything in HLTAID011 plus specialised paediatric content — infant/child CPR, anaphylaxis, asthma and education-sector compliance — and is the ACECQA-approved qualification for childcare and education. If you work with children in a regulated service, you need HLTAID012.

HLTAID012 is valid for 3 years. The CPR component must be renewed every 12 months per Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines to keep your certification compliant.
