Overview of Our CPR Training

This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation HLTAID009 (CPR) in line with the Australian Resuscitation Guidelines, until the arrival of medical or other assistance.

Target Audience

This course is suitable for anyone requiring a CPR certificate for the workplace, recreational purposes, sporting, or home use.

Duration and Delivery Method

Two hours face-to-face training

Assessment Criteria

Throughout the course, participants must demonstrate ongoing competency during a series of practical skills evaluations and written assessments.

Course Outcomes

At the completion of this course, each participant will be able to:

○ Recognise and respond to an emergency situation
○ Communicate details of the incident
○ Respond to signs of an unconscious patient
○ Identify indications for CPR
○ Demonstrate the use of the emergency action plan
○ Provide effective CPR
○ Provide safe manual handling

Award Issued

On successful completion of the CPR training, the participant will receive a Statement of Attainment, which is valid for 12 months. This course complies to policy advice by the Australian Resuscitation Council. As per the Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines the Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation HLTAID009 unit is recommended to be completed every 12 months. This course is nationally recognised through inclusion on the National Training Information Service (NTIS). It is WorkCover approved in every state.

History Of Immediate Response First Aid

Immediate Response First Aid training was started by Peter McGreal who had seen a need to provide lifesaving skills to the general public as well as workplaces using training methods based and scenarios that would reinforce the theory aspects of the course.  Peter has been involved in training for over 30 years.  With his experiences ranging from working as a professional Surf Lifeguard as well as a paramedic.
